Our History

Now in its third generation, Arch Street Lighting got its start in 1914 when Harry Horn inherited his uncle’s gas mantle store on South Street in Philadelphia. The switch was soon made from gas to electric and the store became Harry Horn Electric Supply. After decades of being the best-known electrical supply store in the city, owner Michael Kurland (Horn’s grandson) remade his business and in 1996 opened Arch Street Lighting, an upscale lighting showroom in the Old City section of Philadelphia.

Through 100  years and three generations, the values at Arch Street Lighting remain the same: integrity, honesty, professional service and fair prices.

When a customer buys something - anything - it begins a relationship between them and us.
— Michael Kurland
